Welcome to Springhills Angus
The Springhills Angus herd was established in 1945 when my grandfather, Bruce Wallace, purchased both stud and commercial cows from Sir Ernest Lee Steere. In 1966, my parents, Ian and Sue Wallace, expanded the herd with the addition of more stud cows, renaming the stud Wallaspring. After several years of successful on-farm sales, the focus shifted to our growing sheep flock, which eventually reached around 14,000 head.
In the early 2000s, I decided to revive the cattle stud by acquiring six Diamond Tree cows at a reduction sale, followed by an additional 10 the next year. In 2005, I attended the Hazeldean reduction sale in Cooma, NSW, where I purchased six mated females. In 2010, we further expanded the herd with 20 stud cows from the late Lou Smit of Koojan Hills Angus. Over the years, we have also sourced quality stud cows from Monterey, Diamond Tree, New Generation, and Allegria Park.
We have carefully selected stud sires from some of Australia’s most respected herds, including Mordallup, Glengowan Angus (VIC) in the 1960s, Rosaleigh (SA) and Bald Blair (NSW) in the 1970s, as well as Black Rock, Black Tara, Monterey, Coonamble, and Little Meadows. Since 2016, we have made significant investments in Millah Murrah genetics, purchasing eight stud bulls to further enhance the growth and quality of our herd.
As we continue to strive for improvement, Springhills Angus remains committed to sourcing the best genetics from across Australia to ensure our herd stays at the forefront of the industry.
